Syrian crisis needs political solution

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) – Iranian deputy FM has said the Syrian crisis requires political solution, respect for the will of the country’s people as well as Syrian-Syrian talks.

In a telephone conversation, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the Special Envoy of the UN’s Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura discussed the latest developments of international talks on Syria.

Staffan de Mistura explained the latest efforts to resolve the political crisis in Syria emphasizing the importance of the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard.

Amir-Abdollahian, for his part, underlined that separating the list of opponents who look for a political solution from that of the terrorist groups would be feasible in the light of consultations with all parties as well as the efforts of the United Nations.

“Political solution and respect for the will of the Syrian nation mark the way out of the Syrian crisis,” stressed Amir-Abdollhaian adding “the Syrian-Syrian talks must be conducted between the Syrian government and opponents who believe in a political solution.”
